This thesis is intended to present a synopsis of the results that have been obtained and the techniques involved in obtaining these results. Part one will be the required background material. Part two will be the major results. Part three is the proof of the conjecture if the group is solvable. Part four is the proof of a theorem by Wielandt. Part five gives some of the necessary conditions for a group G to be a counterexample.
