Abstract
School administrators often become so involved in their local problems that they fail to study the practices and procedures of other schools. Pupils in their schools may thus be deprived of superior educational advantages. The writer has been superintendent of one school for the past thirteen years. Administrative and teaching responsibilities have allowed little time to investigate what was going on in other systems. At various times he has keenly felt the need of knowing more intimately the practices and procedures followed in other schools. This study is an outgrowth of that need. The smaller high school was selected because the writer's work has been in such schools and because many studies of larger schools have been made.
