Abstract

Jakes fading has been studied for a long time. The new model of Jakes fading has been introduced around 1993 and has been widely used for mobile and radio communication. It has been a practical approach of Jakes fading channel in case of a moving receiver and achieving almost negligible cross-correlation between different waveforms. On the other hand, Digital Video Broadcasting Second Generation (DVB-S2) has been described and implemented under Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel model. DVB S3 was popular for mobile and radio communication. Afterwards, for satellite communication also DVB-S2 has emerged as a great area to work on. This thesis studies how Jakes fading channel with different Doppler frequencies affects the performance of DVB-S2. In this regard, different modulation schemes and different code rates have been added to observe the performance under the Jakes fading scenario. Moreover, the effects of having bit interleaver coded modulation (BICM) in DVB-S2 have been included under the Jakes fading channel environment.
