Description
Images show the book's front cover, spine, title page, first page of the readers' dedication, several woodcuts, and back cover. This is a Renaissance retelling of medieval epics, romances, and heroic poetry dealing with Orlando's unrequited love for Angelica, which makes him go mad (hence the title furioso) and other narrative episodes. This edition includes commentary, dedication, annotations, and additional material by Girolamo Ruscelli; a biography of Ariosto by Giovanni Battista Pigna; additional commentary by Niccolò Eugenico; additional notes by Simon Fornari; and an index by Giovanni Battista Rota. Illustrations are in the tradition of the Ferrarese court artist Dosso Dossi, and sometimes incorrectly attributed to him.
