[Page 1] Garrison's support in 1844 for petitions from various Massachusetts towns presented to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, which called for the secession of the state from the Union as a protest against the Constitition's support of slavery. Garrison wants to preserve the names of legal voters as well as women in "the struggle for freedom and independence" against "Southern domination and misrule."
