The ability to communicate with highly complex forms of speech distinguishes man from all other living developmental structures. Learning this complex function begins early, in infancy. Most individuals are born and develop on the basis of an intact central nervous system. This study is concerned with those individuals who manifest breakdowns in communication based on the damages to the central nervous system that produce the particular neuromuscular dysfunction known as cerebral palsy.
