Walter K. Duerksen, who will have charge of the annual festival for Kansas high school musicians which will be held on the University campus Friday and Saturday. Major Duerksen is the director of the R.O.T.C. Band, and assistant professor of band and music theory. p. 1 -- Flirting with death: Gene Seizer, who plays the role of "Death" in the forthcoming production "Death Takes a Holiday," goes on his knees to his lovely leading lady, Alma Louise Gray. The University Players will present the play in the Auditorium, April 18, 19, and 20. p. 1 -- Wheaties informal planned: The four pretty girls are completing exciting plans for the Wheaties sport dance which will be held in Henrion Gymnasium Saturday, April 20. Committee members are Venora Layman, Jean Braly, chairman, Peggy Coates, and Frances Anderson. p. 3 -- Dance Chairman: Mildred Hall is chairman of the Sorosis sports dance honoring Mary Wertz, new Bus Queen, which is being held in the Pine Room of the Commons tonight. p. 3 -- Five-man team brings home the medals: First-place winner is the National Rifle Association regional match at Lincoln, Neb., was the five-man rifle team of the University.
