Migration of Negroes from the rural South to urban centers of the North and East began in 1915. This movement has continued through the years and probably will do so in the future. As a result, most large cities, especially industrial centers with increasing demands for labor, have experienced a rapid growth in Negro population. A great deal has been learned concerning the American Negro and his way of life in an urban setting, and the present study represents an attempt to expand that knowledge by examining certain aspects concerning the Negro population in Wichita.
