Abstract
Table of Contents
Gives students a hands-on, real-world look at the different knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required for a career in community corrections. From probation, parole, and problem-solving courts, to electronic monitoring, work release, residential facilities, and day reporting centers, numerous supervision techniques and treatment programs are explored, as are methods on how to work with offenders that have special needs such as mental illness and substance abuse. Students will learn to apply their knowledge using case studies and other activities; for instance, they'll conduct a presentence interview, write a presentence report, score a risk/needs assessment, and design a treatment plan for case supervision.
