The Boxed Springs Site (41UR30) is a Caddoan mound center situated within the East Texas Pineywoods. Wichita State students have dug forty-four shovel tests on the site which have not yet been properly analyzed. This is an important part of the archaeological process, as not much is understood about the site. This study addresses the shovel test pits which were dug in August 2021. The analysis has been done with ArcGIS and contextualizes the habitation patterns of Early Caddoan sites along the Sabine River and assists with drawing site boundaries within the Boxed Spring Site. In addition, this project also explains the historic occupation of the area based on the spatial analysis of historic artifacts recovered within the shovel tests. This research allows archaeologists to further understand the geological and social processes that have been important in the establishment of the site. This project is part of and based on ongoing archaeological research that is taking place at the Boxed Spring Site.
