Abstract
Wichita State University (WSU) has announced organizational changes to better align with its vision and mission, prompted by recent executive retirements. The restructuring includes several title changes and a strategic realignment of research efforts. Key changes include renaming the executive vice president and provost position to senior executive vice president (EVP) and provost, and combining academic and industry research under Dr. John Tomblin’s leadership. Additionally, a new associate vice president for research will be appointed to enhance faculty-led academic research. Dr. Coleen Pugh will now focus solely on her role as dean of the Graduate School, separating it from her previous dual role. These adjustments aim to support WSU’s goal of becoming an R1 institution and expanding graduate enrollment. The finance and administration VP role will also be renamed to incorporate operational responsibilities. This reorganization is intended to create efficiencies and advance WSU’s priorities amidst its growth in research and enrollment.
