Abstract
This treatise is concerned principally with the fundamental properties of matrices, the basic operations which may be performed with them, and some of their applications to algebra, analytic geometry, and differential equations. The thesis is divided into two chapters. The first deals with principal notation, definitions, properties, and operations including addition, multiplication, differentiation, integration, and reciprocation of matrices. The notation used is that of R. A. Frazer, W. J. Duncan, and A. R. Collar in their book, Elementary Matrices.
