Abstract
The rapid evolution of networking technology, the performance and robustness of current-generation network devices are critical to ensuring reliable and efficient communication. This study evaluates the performance metrics of modern network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls, by analyzing key factors such as throughput, latency, packet loss, and power efficiency. Additionally, the research explores the robustness of these devices in handling high traffic loads, security threats, and failures. Various optimization techniques and alternative solutions, including software-defined networking (SDN) and AI-driven network management, are also examined to enhance network resilience. The findings provide insights into the strengths and limitations of existing network hardware and software, offering recommendations for improving network reliability and performance in dynamic environments. © 2025 IEEE.
