Description
This contains six letters from Ernest Perceval. A letter from Ernest Perceval to his mother from camp before Sevastopol, August 4, 1855, states they were clearing hospitals for another attack, possibly on the 15th. August 12, 1855, a letter to Jane discusses how the French talk of taking the Malakoff in about a fortnight. In the letter dated August 16, 1855, Perceval writes to his cousin mentioning the Russians, numbering 60,000, made an attack upon the bridge over the Tcherndia. There is a letter to his father discussing the Russians trying to force the passage of the Tcherndia. In a letter dated August 31, 1855, Perceval he describes a magazine of the French blowing up, killing 25 men and wounding 130. In a letter to his cousin, dated August 31, 1855, he states there was a sortie in which an officer of the 97th was killed, and another was wounded.
