Abstract
This presentation introduces the dynamic mapping version 2 at Wichita State University (WSU) Libraries. This Java-based new version added a map administration interface and stores shelving map images in an XML database. It enhances the data architecture by switching the mapping scripts from an additional server to the Voyager server where library bibliographic and holding information resides on. It is developed by Erik Mallory at WSU Computing Center based on the initial ASP scripts by Hongfei Li and mapping ideas brought up and promoted by Nancy Deyoe. This presentation also introduces the animated 3D maps created by Sai Deng using Google SketchUp and Antics which aims to engage the Google generation of students. The simplified map administration allows library staff with no scripting experience to update the map images as well. WSU's dynamic mapping feature was first introduced to the Voyager community at the 2007 EndUser conference, and the new version encourages the potential use of this application by other Voyager libraries.
