Abstract
It is the purpose of this thesis to show what must be known before optimum machining conditions can be determined and how the optimum may be determined mathematically for the cutting tools that behave as Taylor described. Further, it will be shown how an optimum can be determined for tool life behavior differing from that set forth by Taylor.
