Abstract
The study was concerned with the applicability of interdependence theory for understanding the quality of certified nursing assistant (CNA)/resident relationships in long term care facilities. Interdependence theory, a social psychological theory, has been applied to a variety of relationships. It provides an account of how trust, commitment, closeness and cognitive interdependence (feelings of “we” and “family”) develop in relationships.
