Abstract
Hypopharyngeal perforations are a rare but potentially serious injury. These injuries typically present with significant superficial trauma or are often seen in very violent injuries such as motor vehicle accidents. Due to the serious nature of these injuries and the complications that can arise, such as infection, sepsis, and death, prompt and proper diagnosis is key for a good prognosis. This case report describes a very unusual case of a hypopharyngeal perforation that was caused by a dislodged chinstrap from a football helmet
