Description
Images show the book's front cover, spine, title page, climate table, longitude and latitude tables, a map, and back cover. In the Cosmographie, first published in 1652 during the Interregnum in England, Heylyn's strong support of the losing Royalist side prompted him to be more circumspect in his description of monarchy in Britain than elsewhere in Europe. He omits describing the power of the monarch and the role of parliament. Heylyn wrote the Cosmographie, a text of wide appeal, to rehabilitate his reputation in the Interregnum and to replace the financial losses he suffered during the Civil War.
