Abstract

Before an attempt is made to measure both the work function and adsorbed gases together it is desirable to consider the ability of the apparatus to make photoelectric determinations. Hence, this paper is concerned with the theory and experimental methods used in acquiring values of the photoelectric work function. It should be noted then, that this paper is primarily concerned with photoelectric determinations without regard to the conditions of the surface being measured.
