Abstract

This study proposes that the effect of German on the morphosemantics of Upper Sorbian verbs is less extensive than has heretofore been assumed. German influence is viewed here as extending directly to only a small segment of the overall USo verb system while acting at the same time as a catalyst for the intervention of other, intralinguistic factors.
