Abstract
Cramer and Adams demonstrate that the field of young adult literature (YAL) offers opportunities in a variety of genres for teens and teachers alike to learn more about trans* and gender creative identities and/or to have their own experiences mirrored back to them. After sharing a brief history of the portrayal of trans* youth in YAL, they describe specific contemporary texts, learning activities, and assessments that aim to help high school students become more knowledgeable about, welcoming toward, and appreciative of all gender identities.
