Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to provide the designer, not experienced in this field, a method whereby he may accomplish a four-bar linkage design to provide a required functional relationship. Two analytical methods first proposed by Ferdinand Freudenstein in a doctoral thesis at Columbia University will be presented. In addition, analytical procedures of choosing arbitrary values used in these methods will be demonstrated. It is believed that no method for determining these values was previously available. The proper selection of these values will yield a linkage system of maximum accuracy for the synthesis method used, over the ranges selected.
