Proposal from the Honors Committee, 2nd reading / Jay Mandt and Kay Gibson -- C. Proposal to Revise the General Education Program
Minutes: Summary of action: 1. The Senate approved the proposed criteria and procedures for the Board of Regents' Professor of the Year Awards, with changes adding "librarianship" to the criteria and allowing self-nominations. It was further approved to send the action directly to the Regents rather than submit it to the General Faculty -- 2. The Senate approved the proposal from the Honors Committee relating to departmental honors tracks and their integration into the Honors program -- 3. The Senate continued its discussion of the General Education proposals, focusing again on the assessment feature. The matter was tabled -- (Informal statements and proposals): Invitation to faculty to a state meeting of the AAUP on April 12 in Topeka with "Shared Governance" as its theme / Senator Roussel -- (President's report): 1. General Faculty meeting will be held on May 13 to consider the General Education proposal and other matters -- 2. March Board of Regents meeting -- 3. Raised the prospect of inviting Regents Grier and/or Shank to speak at a future Senate meeting -- 4. Reported the Council of Faculty Senate Presidents is considering holding a series of four statewide faculty gatherings each year to facilitate networking and collaboration on research -- 5.
