Abstract
The principal purpose of this study is to provide a guide for
rhythm activities. It is believed that such a guide is essential
in order to achieve the objectives of music education in the elementary
schools. In the elementary school a balanced music program consists
of listening, singing, playing, creating, and physical response to
rhythm. Whenever possible, these should be combined and also integrated
with other areas of the curriculum. It offers music for all -- the
slow as well as the talented -- and, in so doing, does not lower the
rate of progress of the more musical child.
