Description
Poster advertising Fairmount College in 1895, its inaugural year. Illustration by Western Lithograph of Wichita shows west and south facades of Fairmount Hall and includes an inset of the first floor plan. Abbreviation "R. R." on the plan indicates "Recitation Room." Includes description of courses of study, instruction, atmosphere, costs and advantages of location overlooking Wichita. Site of the first college classes taught on our campus, Fairmount Hall housed classrooms, offices and chapel for Fairmount College and the University of Wichita until it was destroyed by fire in September 1929. It was located just northeast of intersection of North Hillside and East 17th streets and faced Hillside Street.
