Description
Document certifying land in Clay County, Kansas, described as Section 20 in Township 6 South of Range 1 East, is "embraced in and is a part of 500 acres selected by H. B. Denman, S. E. Hoffman and E. P. Bancroft and that the same was approved by the Secretary of the Interior, March 19, 1864." Signed by E. P. [Edward P.] McCabe, Kansas State Auditor and Register of State Lands, July 31, 1883. McCabe was the first African American to be elected to a statewide office in Kansas.
