Abstract

This thesis is written in the interest of providing a method for establishing valid performance criteria for water desalting processes. The availability concept has proven itself to be a valuable tool in selecting areas where improvement is possible in the conversion of heat energy to mechanical energy. It is applied to the separation of the phases of an aqueous NaCl solution in this thesis.
