Description
This publication of the WSU Sports Information Department chronicles the 1970 football season. Each game is summarized with a write-up, photographs and statistics. Three games into the season, a tragic accident took place on October 2, 1970, in which an airplane carrying members of the football team, administration, boosters and flight crew crashed in the Rocky Mountains near Silver Plume, Colorado, while en route to Logan, Utah, for a game with Utah State University. Page 2 gives an overview of the season and features portraits and names of players who survived the crash. Pages 12 and 13 feature portraits and names of the players, team manager, head coach, trainer, ticket manager and athletics director who died in the crash. Coverage of the "Second Season" and the fundraising event "Night of Stars" is also included.
