Abstract
This thesis investigates the span load interference effects when
a body is added to a wing. The analysis is based on Multhopp's theory
for the aerodynamics of a fuselage. Individual effects are discussed
and compared with experimental results where possible.
Multhopp assumed; the vortices shed by the body and wing retained
the two-dimensional shape far down stream. Transformation of the body
into a slit guaranteed the absence of flow normal to the body. The
effect of the transformation was to decrease lift and was referred to
as "blockage" effect.
