Abstract

For centuries, men have failed to understand why some leaders have succeeded while others have failed. In the organizations of today, our executives, generals, and educators are trying to find improved methods of developing leaders. In the development of executive ability, success depends on the proper use of the tools of production -- time, space, materials, and men. time, space, and materials are relatively predetermined or precontrolled factors. The chief variant, then, for which the executive must be responsible, is the individual man in the organization. How the individual thinks, and how he is understood and led determine to a considerable degree the character and productivity of the organization.
