Abstract

The purpose of this thesis and the associated research and construction was to produce an electron diffraction apparatus for an undergraduate laboratory experiment. This apparatus was to be superior to existing equipment of the same type. The functioning of this apparatus had to be straight forward, as the student has limited time in which to observe the phenomenon. As a result the thin-film method was chosen. A high vacuum supply was constructed as supporting equipment for the apparatus. This will also be described in this paper.
