Description
Panoramic group photograph of Fairmount College's Student Army Training Corps. View looking west toward temporary mess hall, Fairmount Hall (near site of Wilner Hall) and barracks in Fiske Hall and two temporary wooden structures. S.A.T.C. members shown along with cooks at far left, band and man in Navy uniform at far right and Fairmount College president Walter Rollins, front row center. In early 1918, the US War Department created SATC as a national program to accelerate training of soldiers who simultaneously would take college courses and prepare for war. Fairmount’s SATC unit formed in October 1918 and disbanded two months later. Image dimensions: 43 x 8 inches.
