Description
View of chauffeur inspecting a LaSalle automobile owned by John and Adeline Petrie. Note the "Wichita, the Air Capital" medallion mounted on the grille. Wichita adopted the Air Capital slogan in 1928. The logo was introduced to boost pride in the city after a contest sponsored by Kiwanis. Chamber of Commerce member who signed a safe-driving pledge received medallions for their automobiles. The Petries owned a local clothing store that bore their name.
