Abstract

The purpose of this book is to present music theory in a form practical for the guitarist. It is intended for either beginning guitar students or more advanced guitarists whose knowledge of basic theory is slight. It will give the student an understanding of the use of scales, transposition, intervals, chord construction, inversion, musical motivation, chord progression; chord connection and relationship, modulation, nonharmonic tones, accompaniment, harmonization, and melodic analysis, enabling him to better understand the structure of the music he plays and hears. The understanding of these fundamentals will in turn help to improve the student's interpretation and his playing technique.
