It is the purpose of this investigation to determine experimentally the stress intensification at the head-shell junction of pressure vessels with conical heads. The investigation is limited to semi-apex angles between sixty and ninety degrees, to diameter-to-shell thickness ratios of eighty and two hundred eight, and to a shell-to-head thickness ratio of one.
