Description
Newspaper article in Wichita Beacon, Thursday, June 3, 1926, reporting formal ceremony previous day transferring Fairmount College to City of Wichita and alumni meeting that followed. Board of Regents member Allen W. Hinkel told alumni: "Instead of discarding Fairmount, we will retain her and build our university around her." In special election held April 24, 1926, Wichita’s citizens voted in favor of accepting gift of Fairmount College and transforming it into the Municipal University of Wichita.
