Abstract
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
It was the purpose of this study to:
A. Identify and compare the following:
1. The assistant princ1pal1 s perceptions of his actual
responsibilities 1n administrative tasks with the pr1ncipal's
perceptions of the assistant pr1ncipal1s responsibilities
in these same tasks.
2 . The assistant principal' s perceptions of his ideal
responsibilities in administrative tasks with the
princ1pal ' s perceptions of the assistant princ1pal's
responsibilities in these same tasks.
3. The actual degree of responsibility with the ideal
degree of responsibility that elementary school assistant
principals assigned, to a list of duties that elementary
school assistant principals might be expected to perform.
4 . The actual degree of responsibility with the ideal
degree of responsibility that elementary school principals
assigned, to a list of duties that elementary school
assistant principals might be expected to perform.
B. Identify the importance to the school that elementary
school principals and assistant principals had assigned to a
list of duties that assistant principals might be expected to
perform.
c. Obtain an estimated amount of actual time that elementary
school assistant principals had allotted to the duties
in each general administrative category and an estimate of
the ideal time they would like to have allotted to these
duties.
