Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to survey certain second degree Diophantine equations, develop methods of solution, and show how the solutions may be applied to related problems. There are interesting geometric parallels to the algebraic discussions on the following pages. It is the writer's impression that these parallels lend a certain additional elegance to the subject, therefore a geometrical interpretation is often pointed out.
