Abstract
This study examined the factor structure of the Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory (MACI) Personality Patterns and Clinical Syndromes scales in 331 individuals undergoing short-term hospitalization in a Midwestern psychiatric facility. After Principal Axis factoring the solution was subjected to a promax rotation with Kaiser Normalization. This yielded a three-factor solution accounting for 82% of the total variance. The dimensions were called Demoralization, Acting Out, and Detached. Weighted MACI factor scores for the dimensions of this analysis correlate with the Clinical scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Inventory-Adolescent (MMPI-A) and support the validity of the findings.
