Abstract

The literature shows that many efforts have been made to draw female students to STEM in general and engineering careers in particular. The importance of ensuring that engineering is a gender-neutral field and addressing the existing obstacles for females in the field are well documented. The objective of this report is to chronicle the method by which a student organization, such as Baja SAE Club, can be used as a catalyst for the involvement and empowerment of women in engineering and higher education. Additionally, the report highlights the collaborative efforts between the University and the local community college and the effectiveness of this collaboration in strengthening this cause.
