    Abstract
A survey of the literature reveals that a good general method for the preparation of arylacetaldehydee is desirable. Since omega-nitrovinylaryl compounds are readily prepared from nitromethane and arylaldehydes, the reduction -of omega-nitrostyrene to phenylacetaldoxime was studied in this work.
