A survey of American writing fluids
Abstract
Twenty-six writing inks have been examined, with the purpose of comparing
them with those examined by Munson in l906, and of ascertaining
their relative merits . Collectively, they prove equal to the older
inks. So far as identification is concerned, they render the
identification tests of Mitchell and Osborn inadequate.
These twenty-six inks have been rated after deliberation on the
foregoing determinations and tests. Although it is expected that
exceptions will be taken to these conclusions, yet it seems incontrovertible
that modern inks, departing from the assumption that absence
of iron precludes acceptability, demonstrate a comparatively high
degree of effectiveness.
