Established in 1985, the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University is a unique R&D facility focused on providing testing and certification for airframe technologies. Working under nondisclosure agreements, NIAR laboratories provide services to federal agencies, aviation industry clients and other manufacturing industry clients. Some of our clients include Airbus, Boeing, Beechcraft, Bombardier Learjet, Cessna, Dassault, Gulfstream, Honda Aircraft Company, Lockheed Martin, Spirit AeroSystems, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and NASA. NIAR has a $45 million annual budget; a staff of 400; and 320,000 square feet of laboratory and office space in four locations across the city of Wichita, the Air Capital of the World.
