Lange, holder of the title "Fourth Strongest Man in the World," holding a muscle-building session at Notre Dame University. p. 9 -- Pie-faced peds: Having the time of their lives participating in the Mankato State Teachers College pie-eating contest these students gained very little for their efforts other than messy hands and faces, stained tied and shirts and plenty of pumpkin pie. The winner, pie all gone, can be seen staring into the camera. p. 9 -- Tea time: These students of Alabama State College for Women, a portion of the 25 men admitted last September, got into the spirit of things and held a faculty tea. Coeds hid their male attire and they were forced to wear their feminine garb longer than planned. p. 9 -- A group of Georgia college students hang Gov. Herman Talmadge in effigy from the staue of famed Georgian Tom Watson in front of the state capitol in Atlanta. p. 10 -- Sam Beard has made his WPTF midnight record show, "Moon Glow," must listening at each of North Carolina's Big Four campuses. p. 10 -- Dr. Herman J. Muller, professor of zoology at Indiana University who won the 1946 Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology, shows the gold medal presented to him by the king of Sweden in recognition of this honor to President Herman B. Wells. p. 10 -- The four girls pictured here have decided upon a career of veterinary medicine at Alabama Polytechnic. They are, left to right, Nancy Lee Poehlmann of Warrenton, Va., Marie Hall of Wilmington, NC., Fay Muekel of Bradenton, Fla., and Arline Davis of Jacksonville, Florida. p. 10 -- A 'Streaming Stanley' on a 5,500-mile bike trip: Stanley Arlton, Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD, made a roundabout trip (see map above) from his home in Tacoma, covering 5,500 miles and visiting 22 states plus 2 Canadian provinces. At left he is shown hitting the hay in the bedroll used on the entire trip, and below he stands by his three-geared, pack-equipped bike as he completed his journey in Sioux Falls. p. 11 -- Life with father: A regular on the Penn State basketball team is Jimmy Lawther, son of John Lawther, the Penn coach.
