    Abstract
A psychometric model for identifying psychologically "high-risk" individuals is described. The resulting Screening Index score calculated from a linear combination of 29 psychological variables is estimated to be highly reliable (.92). The construct validity of the model, when evaluated from several perspectives, appears to be substantial. Moreover, on the basis of available evidence, there is no reason to believe the Screening Index is differentially valid for protected and nonprotected classes. Consequently, integration of the Index into a selection system would appear to be consistent with current Federal guidlines regarding employment testing.
