Operational data from 27.4 hours of aerial firefighting and ferry missions are used to examine the effect of various filters at removing the structural modes from the data and the corresponding effect on flight loads spectra. Results are compared among a fifth order centered finite-impulse response filter, down-sampling by data skipping, and various Butterworth filters. It is shown that the latter filter of any order with cutoff frequency of 4 Hz can serve the purpose. However, the finite impulse response filter and data skipping are shown to be equally effective at the task.
