dc.description.abstractAn analytical model of a taper-taper adhesive-bonded joint between two composite plates has been developed using a mechanics of materials approach. The derived model consists of four coupled second-order ordinary differential equations with polynomial coefficients. The equations were reduced to a set of eight coupled, first-order differential equations and integrated numerically. The solutions were obtained by using an algorithm based on the Linear Shooting Method. Analytical model results were compared with finite element analyses and a model published in 1971 by Erdogan and Ratwani. The analytical model agrees well with the other two models.
