    Abstract
Three ligands obtained by the condensation of 2,2'-pyridyl with 5,6-diaminouracil, 5,6-diamino-1-methyluracil and 5,6-diamino-1,3-dimethyluracil were synthesized and crystal structures of the uracil and di-Me uracil derivs. have been obtained. Ruthenium(II) and Rhenium(I) complexes were synthesized for their examn. as potential proton coupled electron transfer reagents and will be compared to other Ruthenium(II) and Rhemium(I) heterocycles. Characterization of the ligands and metal complexes by spectral and electrochem. techniques will be described.
