    Abstract
    The purpose of this thesis is to present the problems of the cripple in society. The chief objective of the thesis is to present the pertinent facts concerning the work for cripples in the State of Kansas. The other objectives of the author is to (1) show the feeling of society toward the cripple from a historical standpoint; (2) present a brief review about the cooperation of the European countries and the United States in applying modern orthopedic surgery to the work for cripples; (3) set forth a synopsis of the organization, plans, purposes, and program of the International Society for Crippled Children.
